Thank you for choosing us as your employer. We are happy you selected us and look forward to having you on our team. To make your transition smoother, we provide the following information.
What new employee forms do I need to complete?
The following forms need to be completed prior to coming to new employee orientation. Click here and follow directions.
Where do I go?
On your first day, please meet us at the Jefferson Barracks Division **. Park in the Burgundy parking lot and walk to Building 1, main entrance near the flag pole. A representative will provide you directions to the Auditorium where you will be greeted by Human Resources. Your first day will begin at 8:00am and end at 4:30pm. On your second day of orientation we ask you to join us at the John Cochran Division **.
What should I wear?
You should be clean, neat, and professionally dressed. Business casual is appropriate during orientation. After orientation you will learn the dress requirements for your specific work area.
What will we do?
During your first few days you will learn about what we do and why. We'll share with you our mission, values, and characteristics. And you will learn how the VA Health Care System offers the best health care anywhere. As you might expect, there are some necessary sessions that provide you guidance on information and privacy protection, workplace safety, pay and benefits, parking, performance management, and equal opportunity in the workplace. When do I get my Employee ID (PIV) badge?
The process to get an employee identification badge (PIV) will begin when you report to your service. When it is time for you to get your badge you will need to bring two forms of acceptable identification **. Both must be original documents, currently valid, and not expired. One must be a state or federal government ID that contains a photograph. The names on the identification must match. If one ID has a full middle name, and the other has a middle initial, then the initial must match.
Will I need an employee parking pass?
Yes, you will be issued an employee parking pass. Bring your vehicle description, license plate number, and VIN number. The employee parking pass will allow you to park in the designated VA employee parking lots. If you choose to park on the street at the John Cochran Division be aware that the City of St. Louis parking authority regularly monitors the area and violators are quickly ticketed.
What about my pay?
You will receive your pay through direct deposit. To insure timely payment please bring your account information: bank routing number and account number. For best results we recommend that you bring a voided check.
Where do we meet on our second day?
John Cochran Division ** We will meet at the white modular building (1T) in the north-west end of the parking lot behind the medical center. Once inside Building 1T, proceed to classroom 129. We recommend you allow 15 minutes extra travel time for parking. VA employees park free at the Scottish Rites parking garage on Olive Street and Grand Boulevard. You can catch the free VA shuttle bus outside the entrance to the parking garage. Once inside the bus get your parking stub validated by using the stamp provided. The shuttle will drop you off at the Ambassador Entrance of the hospital on Enright. From there, you will need to make your way to white modular building (1T) in the north-west end of the parking lot to meet your employee orientation representative. Is there a cafeteria?

What do I need to bring?
You should bring two forms of acceptable identification ** (see details above on Employee ID Badges), vehicle identification information (see details above on employee parking pass), and banking information (see details above on pay information).
