Volunteer Drivers Many veterans depend on generous volunteer drivers to get them to and from their VA St. Louis Healthcare System appointments. The Volunteer Transportation Network (VTN) uses donated or VA purchased vans, driven by VA volunteer drivers, to transport our veterans to medical appointments. The VTN is a partnership between the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Service Organization. To use this service, veterans must be ambulatory, able to get from their home into the van and to their appointment location with limited assistance. Without the dedicated DAV volunteer drivers, many veterans would be unable to get to and from their medical appointments. Volunteer drivers must have a valid driver’s license (chauffer’s license not required), a good driving record, your own auto insurance, pass a medical evaluation and be registered as a VA volunteer. Drivers are needed in all areas, both Illinois and Missouri. For more information on becoming a volunteer DAV driver for the VA St. Louis Healthcare System, please contact the DAV office at 314-289-6443 or Voluntary Service.
