Former Prisoner of War (FPOW) Advocate

POW-MIA Logo

Former American POWs are eligible for special Veterans benefits, including enrollment in Department of VA medical care for treatment in VA hospitals and clinics without co-payments as disability compensation for injuries and diseases that have been associated with internment, but they have the same co-pay rules as other Veterans for extended care. These benefits are in addition to regular Veterans benefits and services to which they, as Veterans, are entitled.

Congress defined a prisoner of war as a person who, while serving on active duty, was forcibly detained by an enemy government or hostile force, during a period of war in situations comparable to war.

For information on Former Prisoner of War Benefits please visit the American Former Prisoners of War web site managed by the Veterans Benefits Administration

St. Louis VA Medical Center to Host the 2012 Golden Age Games - May 30  to June 4, 2012

Golden Age Games will be hosted by the St. Louis VA Medical Center in 2012

“Life begins at 55” has never been truer for Veterans competing in the National Veterans Golden Age Games. This event clearly demonstrates that sports and fitness are important for all Americans, at any age. It is a national show-case for the preventive and therapeutic value of sports, fitness, and recreation.  The St. Louis facility is excited to have the opportunity to host it.  The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) and Help Hospitalized Veterans (HHV) co-sponsor the National Veterans Golden Age Games. We look forward to to bringing the Veterans who will attend the 2012 games in St. Louis the best experience ever.
