GRECC Education Components

The GRECC Education Program is mandated to provide education in geriatrics to health care providers throughout the United States. The education may be in the form of Continuing Education, Clinical Training of students, residents and fellows, Community Outreach, Geriatric Assessments, and Performance Tools. Examples of each are listed below.

a) Continuing Education

  1. The 22nd Annual Summer Geriatric Institute will take place on May 24th & 25th, 2011.
  2. Weekly Geriatric Grand Rounds occur on Wednesday from 4-5 PM.
  3. Annual GRECC symposium on Nursing Home Care occurs in St. Louis and Kansas City each fall.

b) Clinical Training

  1. Fellowship Training in Medicine.
  2. Residency Training in Optometry, Pharmacy, Clinical Pastoral Education, and Medicine.
  3. Student Training in Pharmacy, Medicine, and Social Work.

c) Community Outreach

  1. Emergency Preparedness. Videos
  2. Aging.
  3. Mental Health.
  4. Geriatric Assessment.
  5. Bi-weekly Post Dispatch Newspaper** column.  
  6. Self administer VA SLUMS Exam** for patients.

d) Geriatric Assessments: The following assessments are made available to all through the links below.
